Bathampton Scouts joined others from across Bath at Strategy, a challenge camp run by Gloucester Scouts and held on the Earl of Bathurst’s Estate just outside Cirencester.
The patrols from the 28th competed against 334 other teams, coming in an impressive 4th place!
To do this, the Scouts complete numerous challenges spread across the 3,000 acre site. These challenges tested their physical stamina, mental prowess and Scouting skills, including map reading and compass work. Bases included an assault course, rifle shooting, caber tossing, kit checks, super market sweep and fire lighting – at each base the Scouts had to decide who from the patrol would under take the task to gain the maximum points.
The Scouts camped under canvas and despite the extremes of very hot weather followed torrential rain, all of the Scouts had a great time! To finish off the camp the Scouts enjoyed a disco, a talent show and various other activities on the Sunday after the competition ended.
