Scouts from the 28th Bath (Bathampton) and 21st (Larkhall) Scout Group have just returned from Strategy, a challenge camp run by Gloucester Scouts and held on the Earl of Bathurst’s Estate just outside Cirencester.
Both Patrols competed against 295 other teams completing numerous challenges spread across the 3,000 acre site. That tested their physical stamina, mental prowess and scouting skills including map reading and compass work. Bases included an assault course, rifle shooting, caber tossing, kit checks, metal detecting and fire lighting – at each base the Scouts had to decide who from the Patrol would under take the task to gain the maximum points.
The Scouts camped under canvas and despite the very hot weather all of the Scouts had a great time. To finish off the camp the Scouts enjoyed a disco, a talent show and various other activities on the Sunday after the competition ended. The 28th Bathampton Scouts did well coming 24th overall and hope to win next year!
