The Scout Section is for young people, usually aged between 10 and a half years and 14 years old. A young person can come in to the Troop at 10 and may stay until they are 14 and half years old after which they join Explorer Scouts. The Scout Troop is the third and final Section in the Bathampton Scout Group.

Scouts are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities as part of their programme. “participation” rather than meeting set standards is the key approach and for the Scout who wants to be recognised for his or her achievements, in or outside of Scouts there are a number of Challenges Awards and Activity Badges.

These awards cover many hobbies including drama, music, IT, martial arts, sports and craft.

Being outdoors is important and 2/3rds of the programme is given over to taking part in Scouting skills, such as camping, bushcraft and cooking. Bathampton Scouts also take part in a wide range of adventurous activities including night hikes, abseiling, walking, climbing and archery.

If you ever wanted to try something new Scouting is for you!

The Scouts go on several camps a year including our annual trip to a PGL Activity centre, our ‘Dragnet’ Camp and several ‘Patrol’ camps with the highlight being the week long ‘Troop’ camp.

The Scout Troop in Bathampton meets every Friday for more details please fill out the contact form.
