Scouts from Bathampton, aged 11 to 14, have recently returned from an action packed camp on the island of Guernsey.
The annual summer camp is always a big adventure and this year was no exception. The Scouts enjoyed lots of different activities as well managing to squeeze some time on a beach every single day of the 7 day camp.  Even the weather was pretty near perfect with just one evening of rain amongst glorious sunshine.

Bathampton Scouts have just returned from their annual training and adventure camp in Dorset. The 10-14 year olds spent 4 nights camping at West Holm on the outskirts of Wareham under canvas and cooking most of their meals on wood fires. Despite the worst lightning and thunderstorm any of the Scouts had camped in they still enjoyed a fun packed camp.

Scouts from Bathampton have just returned from an exciting voyage along the Kennet and Avon Canal in half term. Their first evening was spent at Bathampton Scout HQ practicing their team work, cooking on wood fires and rope skills. The evening finished with hot chocolate around a campfire.
One the first day of the trip the Scouts motored from Bathampton to Bradford on Avon on their boat Dottie B. Mooring on the edge of Bradford the Scouts cooked an evening meal in the cramped confines of the galley.

Scouts from the 28th (Bathampton) Scout Troop have just returned from an exciting weekend at Gilwell Park, near Chingford, the home of Scouting. All of those who attended were senior members of the Troop with a leadership role that sees them running their own Patrol of 7 Scouts on a week night and on various camps and activities. The Scouts joined 1,500 other young people from across the UK at the annual Halloween themed ‘Scarefest’ camp.

Last Friday, Scouts from the 28th Bathampton Scout Troop visited Bath Fire Station as part of their Fire Safety Badge. The Scouts watched a car being winched back on to its wheels, were shown around a pump and had the equipment explained to them. In previous weeks the Scouts have learnt about fire safety both at home and on camp. They looked at fire escape plans, preventive measures and what to do in case of a fire, as well as the causes of fires at home, school and camp.

Scouts from Bathampton, aged 11 to 14, have recently returned from their annual summer camp in Dorset.
Despite a few days of challenging gale force winds and heavy rain, the hardy Scouts took every opportunity to have fun, including a visit the Bournemouth Air Show to watch the Red Arrows and military displays on the beach. Two Leaders from the 28th Bathampton Scouts have just returned from an International Guide and Scout Jamboree.
Simon and Ethan joined 17,000 young people including 3000 from all over the world, at a pop up tent village in Evo near Hameenlinna, in Southern Finland. After an evening in Helsinki looking around the Cathedral and harbour the two Scouts joined other international participants for the two hour trip to the campsite.

A Patrol of Scouts from the 28th Bath (Bathampton) Scout Group have just returned triumphantly from Strategy, a challenge camp run by Gloucester Scouts and held on the Earl of Bathurst’s Estate just outside Cirencester.
The team of 5 came 1st out of 235 teams, and set a new all time high score for the event, after completing numerous challenges spread across the 3,000 acre site that tested their physical stamina, mental prowess and scouting skills including map reading and compass work. Twenty Scouts from Bathampton have just returned from completing epic expeditions in the New Forest.
The Scouts, who are all aged between 10 and 14, completed their Expedition Challenge and Navigator Activity badges as part of the camp which saw them walk between 15 and 35 miles in patrols determined by their age. The older groups also spend two nights away from the main site at satellite campsites within the national park.
